* BETTER TOGETHER INNOVATION FUND*

COBIS submitted a successful bid for funding from the Better Together Patient Experience Innovation Fund. The project will deliver a Scotland Wide Psychosocial Training program for all staff involved in Burns Services.

Providing psychosocial support is an important part of patient care for all staff.  The concept of involving all staff in psychosocial support at an appropriate level of Burns patients is new.  The package of training has recently been developed.  COBIS MCN however, intend to use a robust method of introduction, firstly assessing current provision, instituting the training, assessing the impact and then making the process self sustaining with a process by which training continues at a local level.  To ensure equality we will introduce this throughout Scotland and avoid the development of local areas of excellence.

* NATIONAL CLINICAL AUDIT SYSTEM FOR COBIS * (NCAS)

The clinical audit system (CAS) is a web-based, secure Scotland-wide computer system for collecting and reporting of data collected by authorised MCN members.  The CAS is a generic system designed to capture the patient journey. The flexibility of the system has allowed a COBIS specific page to capture a core dataset on burn injury. James Thom is a data manager reviewing at the moment COBIS needs for training or re-training those who need refresher course. Please get in touch with James if you feel you need a training on 01412 321850, jthom@nhs.net
