The MCN has representatives from all professions involved in burn care including surgeons, anaesthetists, physiotherapists, nurses, dietitians and managers. In order to fulfil the requirements of the Core Principles of networking (Health Department Letter 21 (2007), the MCN supports the education of staff.
As the incidence of burn injury has decreased in recent years, expertise has inevitably been lost. This means that there is a need to rationalise care and ensure that those professionals looking after patients are able to maintain their skills.
There is a sub group of the MCN with the specific role of identifying the training and education needs of the multi-professional membership.
A very successful education day was held in Aberdeen in September 2007. If you would like to be notified of future COBIS education days, please register you interest and email:cobismcn.tayside@nhs.net
